Note old style logo vs the new logo on the XG-M - the XD-11 / 7 was introduced in '77.
It actually was a very early program camera, though Minolta did not at first realize the marketing significance - set the camera to shutter priority, select the shutter speed, and the camera will run through the apertures at that speed... but if the aperture range is exhausted, the camera will increase or decrease the shutter speed. Minolta ended up calling this feature Automatic Shutter-speed Compensation system (ASC), and later samples appear to have incorporated an early 'green mode' - 1/125, Shutter priority, and the minimum aperture on the lens were all painted green.
