The is the markers for the path that pilgrims walk across the mud to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in Northumbria. The crossing is long and hard, and can only be attempted at low tide. This photo is from the Holy Island looking back to the mainland.

The stunning 16th Century Lindisfarne Castle on the Holy Island, as seen from the ruins of the ancient Priory. The Castle is under repair and covered in scaffolding, which adds a strange air to the photo, I think... Unfortunately it is also closed to visitors, so, next time, I guess :( #Lindisfarne #Northumbria #olympus #HolyIsland
