Boat Graveyard
This is one of the many hulks sitting in the mud in the lower reaches of the River Itchen at Southampton. It seems that over the years (centuries?) people have just left ships & boats that they don't want in this area to rot! It is really weird! I had seen this reach of the river from the air many times whilst flying over it to & from Alderney, and I ventured to find it one weekend.
It was actually much more difficult to photograph this and capture the "feel" than I thought it would be (and the weather was appalling, of course!)

Another view of one of the wrecks in the "boat Graveyard" in the River Itchen at Southampton. Thjis is the one of the many wrecks here that you can get close to, and it looks like people have been tossing rubbish into it for many years. It was very dull the day I was there.
