The Alderney breakwater is over 800meters long, and was built in the 1840's. This view shows a wonderfully clear and calm day last week.
Often if I stood where I took this shot, I would be in severe danger of being washed off, by the huge Atlantic waves that crash over this old sea defence!

The fog from the English Channel washes over the cliffs on the coast of Alderney.
I took my new long lens to the edge of the cliffs to see if I could get some nice shots of the gannets, but this is what I saw! This image was taken as the last of the fog passed through, and I did get a few hazy shots after all.

Essex Castle is on top of what I think is the highest point of the island of Alderney, and this is from behind the old Castle, looking towards the Blaye which is where the airport is.
The weather was appalling!

This is the road that runs below Fort Torgis, and to Fort Clonque on Alderney. The water on the left is "the Swinge" , an incredibly rough area of water, when the tide is running.
Back to landscapes I guess ;-)

The last rays of yesterday's Sun illuminate the harvested field near Winchester. These bales have been stacked here for a while now.
