The River Itchen runs though a moorland in the centre of Winchester, called the Winnall Moors. This area has been closed for a long time, and reopened to the public recently. I took a quick stroll though part of it today, between heavy rain showers!

Excited young cows, or "poddy calves", as i remember them being called when I was young back on Australia, poke their wet noses through the fence, looking for same attention, on the island of Alderney.
These are Guernseys, that produce the best milk (take that Jersey!! LOL!) . Unfortunately it seems the famous "Alderney Cow" died out before WW2.

This wheat is starting to ripen, in a field near Winchester (Actually Barton's Farm, which is going to become a zillion new houses, since the Council approved development)
The wheat is about 2 feet tall, and I took this my lowering the camera into the crop with the screen twisted so I could frame it. Hooray for the E-620 ;-)
