Chook is Australian for chicken! As I was walking on Alderney, some of the local chooks thought I was going to feed them when I opened my bag to get the camera out. They jumped up onto the top of the fence, and hassled me ;-)
As I took this shot, another one was trying to peck at my fingers holding the camera. They were actually quite friendly, and could be handled.
I used to keep some chickens back home in Australia.

A Guernsey cow on Alderney.
This lady seemed to think that the grass outside her paddock was worth the pain of a barbed wire fence!
Guernsey cows, in the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the Channel Islands produce the most magnificent milk! The best in the World (sorry Jersey). During high Summer this girl & her sisters here on Alderney will produce milk that is really quite yellow. It has a LOT of cream. Some people put the deep yellow colour down the huge number of snails that are on Alderney...

This swan started following us as we walked along the Itchen River in Winchester. I think it wanted something!
They tell me that all swans in England belong the Queen. Pity, looks like there is lots of meat on this one ;-)
