A lake several miles long isn't going to sit still for a crisp long exposure reflection, but at least a thick salt lake resists small ripples in light wind better than a freshwater lake. The water still moves. I suppose that's why many photographers fake Milky Way reflections. But once you start faking things, it's a slippery slope, and people may start questioning much of what you're producing. That's one reason why I don't fake reflections, even for dark sky night images.

Enhanced photo and dStretch yre scale 5 images of the second of four masks in a high alcove at Hueco Tanks. This was shot at an angle looking back into the overhang, I thought rotating it upright would just be confusing given the focus gradient.
