Miles cemetery at Eagle Cliff is located in a rural area of Monroe County that is 25 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri, and just west of the Monroe County seat in Waterloo, Illinois. The cemetery is situated on the cliffs overlooking the American Bottom flood plain of the Mississippi River.

There are soldiers buried here who fought in The Revolutionary War, Mexican-American War, Blackhawk War, and War of 1812. There also is a now empty mausoleum built into the bluff that our son can be seen standing on. After decades of being neglected and vandalized, the cemetery is now considered a historic site, and a donor-funded restoration effort is underway.
