The Lincoln Funeral Car on display across from the Springfield Amtrak station on May 1, 2015. The car is a historically accurate representation of the original which carried the body of President Lincoln from Washington, DC to Springfield, IL in 1865.

Shown here is a replica of the hearse used in 1865 for President Lincoln's funeral. The original hearse was destroyed in 1887 when the building it was stored in burned. Springfield's Staab Funeral Home led the project to recreate the hearse, working in close association with the Tombstone (AZ) Hearse Company. The project was supported by donations of time, material and money, and involved craftsmen from across the country. This photo was taken shortly after the opening ceremonies on May 2, 2015.

A Union honor guard re-enactor stands over the replica casket of President Lincoln on May 2, 2015. The casket rested on a temporary bier in front of a stage setup at Sixth and Washington St. where the opening ceremony was held.

The 2015 Lincoln Funeral Re-enactment drew visitors from around the world to Springfield over the weekend of May 1-3, 2015. Included were hundreds of Civil War era re-enactors such as the group seen in this photo taken on May 2 shortly after the opening ceremony.
