On the NE corner of W. Center and N. 2nd St. is the former People Bank of Girard. Peoples Bank was organized in 1893, and moved into this building upon its completion in 1919. The bank was a casualty of the Great Depression.

The Ring Building, located on W. Center St. on the north side of the Girard Square, has been identified as a Mesker building. Mesker buildings are noted for their ornamental sheet metal and cast iron facades. The Mesker Brothers Iron Works of St. Louis, Missouri and the George L. Mesker & Company of Evansville, Indiana produced prefabricated architectural elements and building facades from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
