Carp-e diem! During standardized spring largemouth bass sampling on Lake Talquin, our biologists shocked a "state record" 35-pound common carp. There is no state record for this species and 35 pounds is the minimum to qualify for a record. An uncertified carp (40.56 pounds) was caught in 1981 in the Apalachicola River, and there have been big carp sampled in Lake Talquin but none as big as this fish.
