Wilson's Bird-of-Paradise
Cicinnurus respublica
The Wilson's Bird of Paradise is an endemic species found on the western tip of West Papua's Raja Ampat island. It shows interest in the female by performing a courtship dance, exhibiting incredibly distinct behaviors. Initially, it removes scraps from the ground, then rearranges its colors and feathers into various shapes. Witnessing this spectacle is an amazing experience, although photographing it under low-light conditions is equally challenging

Endemic to the North Maluku islands, a member of the Bird-of-Paradise family (Paradisaeidae). It must have been the hardest nature walk ever in my life. We are 2 persons + our guide, after a 3 hours night drive,We started walking in the dark forest at 4:00 in the morning. Walked 3.6km in the middle of the forest canopy by crossing rivers and extreme conditions. After being exhausted, only 20 minutes later, the Standardwing Bird of Paradise came to the tree for a very very short moment where I was expecting it. I was only able to capture this much in a very short moment. It is not the quality I was expecting, but to respect the efforts spent, I decided to share such hard-to-capture beauty.
Not only chasing the bird, but actually I experienced an unforgettable resilience experience both physically and in terms of determination by enduring an extremely challenging test.
