GARHI PADHAVALI, MORENA, MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA
An architectural wonder from medieval era, which looks like a fort from outside but it is a temple, which has hidden some spectacular carvings. The temple was originally a shiva temple, in 18 century the rulers of Dhaulpur converted it into a fort using the stone of the fallen temple. There is no trace of the main temple, but a small mandap at the entrance has survived,the intricate carvings covers the whole structure from the floor to the ceiling. The trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are the main theme of the carvings. There are numerous story hidden in the carvings waiting to unraveled. There are status of lion and lioness at the entrance, guarding the temple.
