I'll spare you the hundreds of images I have of the Eclipse but this simple one is one of my favorites. I've never had a subject where the difference of exposure can highlight different aspects of this event. I've been spending hours sorting through and tweaking each frame. What fun.

Just to get our head around it, here are some amazing facts that I discovered while photographing the eclipse.
The Sun is 93 million miles from the Earth.
If the Earth were the size of an orange the sun would be about the size of basketball about a half mile away. (Whaaaat?!)
The diameter (distance across) the Sun is about 865,370 miles.
The diameter of the Earth is 7,917 miles
The largest solar flares in this image are approximately 66,000 miles long.
Just the fact that I had the opportunity to see and photograph this event is simply mind blowing to me. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it with you.
