Aerial view of the beautiful Alameda County Courthouse in Oakland, California. This building is now officially called the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse. It was built in the mid-1930s by the WPA, and is a fine combination of Art Deco and Classical architecture. It is situated on the edge of Lake Merritt and next to the Oakland Museum in downtown Oakland.

Aerial view of the headquarters and visitor center of the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary at Crissy Field, with San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
Designated in 1981 and part of NOAA, the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary spans 1,279-square-miles (966 square nautical miles) just north and west of San Francisco Bay, and protects open ocean, nearshore tidal flats, rocky intertidal areas, estuarine wetlands, subtidal reefs, and coastal beaches within its boundaries.

This building was Frank Lloyd Wright's last commission. The wing angling towards the upper right of the image is the Administration Building, which is 584 feet long and was completed in 1962. The central dome is 80 feet across and has a 172 foot gold spire. The wing angling toward the lower right of the image is the Hall of Justice Building, which is 880 feet long and was completed in 1969.
The hexagonal building in the foreground is the Marin County Jail.
This was my fourth visit to photograph the building and the first time I was able to get the entire gargantuan building in the frame.

Some of the mind-blowing architectural features of the Marin County Civic Center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This was Wright's last commission.
For a sense of scale, the dome at the upper right of the image is 80 feet in diameter, and the gold spire is 172 feet high.
I think Frank would have appreciated this kite's-eye perspective of his work.
