These guys broke the Guinness World Record for largest chalk pavement art on June 7th, 2008. The drawing was 90,000 square feet.

It was a beautiful March evening as the sun sank lower in the sky in this spectacular location on Mt. Tamalpais, overlooking Stinson Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

The wind shifted more than 90 degrees while we were here, and became strong enough that it was a struggle to bring down the large kites we needed at first to lift our cameras. Fantastic effort to make it up here, our second location of the day, and to adapt to the changing conditions by Pierre, Heidy, Cris, Scott, Rick and Diane.

Many years ago for a friend's bachelor party we hiked from the east side of Mt. Tamalpais to Stinson Beach starting in the evening. A couple of people had earlier hidden caches of food and drink in a few spots on the mountain. The road seen in this photo closes after sunset, and we actually napped on it for an hour or two in the middle of the night. Crazy youth.....great memories.

There was an incredible sunset on the evening of the maiden voyage of my helium balloon lofted camera. In the foreground is the Campanile (bell tower) which stands 307 ft. high, with the U.C. Berkeley campus and the rest of Berkeley unfolding out to San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate.

The extremely tight spot I was in to capture this view can be seen here.

Many thanks to Tgran, whose help was instrumental in getting the balloon and camera safely into the air.

Many square miles of this extremely arid valley are planted with grapefruits and oranges.

I can't speak about the oranges, but the grapefruits were sweet, tart, juicy and absolutely delicious.

The San Jacinto Mountains, whose snow and rain runoff provides water to this valley, are seen in the background.
