Additional aerial views of the Marin Civic Center here.

This building was Frank Lloyd Wright's last commission. The wing angling towards the upper right of the image is the Administration Building, which is 584 feet long and was completed in 1962. The central dome is 80 feet across and has a 172 foot gold spire. The Hall of Justice Building, only partially seen here at the bottom of the image, is 880 feet long and was completed in 1969.

This was another challenging kite photography session. When I arrived at the site, the fog was beginning to roll in. The wind ranged from perfect to non-existent, with gusts in between. There were thermals here again, which made things interesting when the wind died. All in all, I am pleased with several photographs I got during the session.

More information about the building.

Some of the mind-blowing architectural features of the Marin County Civic Center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This was Wright's last commission.

For a sense of scale, the dome at the upper right of the image is 80 feet in diameter, and the gold spire is 172 feet high.

I think Frank would have appreciated this kite's-eye perspective of his work.

The hexagonal building in the foreground is the Marin County Jail.

This was my fourth visit to photograph the building and the first time I was able to get the entire gargantuan building in the frame.

This Frank Lloyd Wright designed building was completed in 1962. This wing, the Administration Building, is 584 feet long and has a central 80 foot dome and a 172 foot gold spire. The adjacent Hall of Justice Building, completed in 1969, is 880 feet long.

This view shows less than half the building. Due to light winds and thermals, I was not able to coax the kite any higher to photograph more of the building. I will return another day to try and photograph more of this unique structure.
