This building, completed in 1932, was originally San Francisco College for Women. The land was donated by the Archbishop of San Francisco to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart for the purpose of founding a college for women. It later became Lone Mountain College, and was acquired by the University of San Francisco in 1978.

This old Ford Plant, built in 1931, is 520,000 square feet and 1/4 mile long and produced 60,000 tanks during World War II. It has been renovated and now houses the Craneway Pavilion, a 45,000 square foot meeting and entertainment venue designed to accommodate 5,000 people. The building's largest tenant, SunPower Corporation, a large solar energy manufacturer, has installed a huge photovoltaic array which runs the length of the building.
Due to a northerly wind this morning, I was finally able to photograph this view of the building. The winds were strong and gusty, which allowed me to test the Kiwi Nighthawk fishing kite than Pierre and Heidy so generously gave me last spring. It flew well, as did my 6.5' Rokkaku outfitted with stiffer fiberglass spreaders (RET50) than I had been using previously.
