Dedicated in 1914, this is the fifth St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco. The first was built on Market St. in 1855. The church preceding this current church was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.

I've been wanting to photograph this striking building ever since noticing it from the top of the de Young Museum tower in Golden Gate Park, almost a mile away. I was fortunate to be able to launch and fly my kite from the sports field a block away once soccer and rugby practice had ended for the evening.

Taken by a camera lofted by a kite.
