It was my first real birding hike with binoculars and camera in two years. I felt extremely blessed and grateful to be out and about again, mingling with fellow birders, joggers, hikers, dog walkers, bikers, etc. on a very pleasant day.

I joined a group of wonderful friends spending the Thanksgiving and weekend in Napa, staying at a spacious estate with its own vineyards, farmland, fruit trees, chicken coop, etc. on many acres. We collected and cooked fresh eggs which were super delicious. There were four dogs staying with us. Marcus, a corgi and handsome prince, was one of them.

Salted Egg Pastry (蛋黄酥) is made by encasing the salted egg yolk in sweetened lotus paste or bean paste, and then wrapped in flaky pastry. In one bite, it has a uniquely mixed taste of the sweet paste, the salted egg yolk, and the flaky pastry. It is an all-time favorite among many of the Chinese, particularly during the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year. The delicious pastries in this photo were made by a special and dear friend of mine, inspiring me to pick up my cameras again after a hiatus of almost two years.
