I'm finally out of the desert for a brief time. It feels SO good to see some green for a little while. I just arrived in southern Louisiana yesterday. Today it poured out most of the day as the remnants of a tropical storm hit us.

I had a number of first today.

This is the first time I have seen rain in, ummmmmmmmmmm… I can't even remember… Probably six months.

This is the first time the skylight in my bedroom has leaked in about six months. It only seems to leak when it rains.

This is the first I have really been out of the desert in about 14 months.

Today was the first day in a month that the temperature was actually below 100 degrees. YAY!!!

This is the first Spanish Moss I have seen in a year and a half. I love Spanish Moss.

I'm SO happy to be out of Texas. This past month has been brutally HOT!!!

Wherever I go, I always try to capture the personality and uniqueness of the place. When you think of Louisiana, what do you think of? Aside from oil spills, and hurricanes... The bayou.

A couple days ago, I asked the owners of the campground I'm staying in, where I could go to find that classic Louisiana bayou. They sent me to the town of Manchac. It was pretty cool. Dumpy... But interesting. It smelled like a swamp down there.

I've been struggling to breathe in these high elevations. The campground I'm staying in is at nearly 7 feet above sea level.

Nothing screams, New Orleans quite like seeing Mardi Gra beads hanging from telephone wires.

Sunset, somewhere in Eastern Oklahoma. Honestly, I have no idea where the hell I was when I shot this. I do however remember that I was being bitten by the largest mosquitoes I have EVER seen!

You can't get much more classic deep south, than a big old plantation house. This is Oak Alley in Louisiana. These two perfect rows of Live Oak trees were planted nearly 300 years ago. All 28 original trees are still alive.
