Yes, it's another photo of a big old row of Live Oak trees. I LOVE these trees. Especially now, while surrounded by desert, looking out at Cactus and dirt. When it's 105 degrees, looking at photos of green stuff feels very soothing. I shot this one back in January, as I passed through Louisiana. This is Oak Alley Plantation, shot looking through the front gate. (I was too cheap to pay the admission)

After months in the desert, it's always nice looking back at the stuff I shot in Louisiana, last summer. It was so green there. A nice change from the desert. This is a detail of just a couple of the many 300 year old Live Oak trees in front of the old Oak Alley Plantation House.
The tree trunks are covered with resurrection ferns. I remember reading about these while I was visiting Florida a few years ago. I thought the name was strange. I didn't understand why they would call them that, until we had a nice rainstorm. It hadn't rained in a couple of months, and these ferns appeared completely dead. The leaves were all curled up, brown and dead. After one good rainstorm, they just exploded back to life and were totally green and healthy looking within 24 hours. Resurrected.

Alright… I'm getting tired of posting city skylines and swamps. It's been a pretty disappointing couple of months for photography. I decided that I was going to actually post something really fantastic today. But… Then I changed my mind, and posted this. It's Jackson Square, in New Orleans at dusk.

More playing around with the infrared camera. Here is another from last week's trip to Oak Alley Plantation in southern Louisiana. What an awesome place this is to shoot!
Thank you flickr for bringing the comment icons back up to a size big enough to see without a microscope. Now... If only the title would go back up to the top of the photo where it belongs...

I LOVE this place!!!
I visited the Oak Alley Plantation yesterday. What an absolutely spectacular property this is. It is probably the most famous old plantation in all of the south. Out in front of the house are two perfect rows of Live Oak trees that were planted over 300 years ago.
