I shot so many photos of the Alamo, while in San Antonio last week, I figured I would wait until I left to look through all of them and pick some of my favorites. I'm going to just post them all at once, and get it over with. I did several daytime shots of the main building, but I'm not even going to post them. Morning light sucked, afternoon light sucked, evening light sucked. I just don't like any of my daytime shots at all. The only shots I really liked were the sunset ones, and the dusk shots.

I shot these first three at dusk.

If I go into the entire history of the Alamo, this will end up longer than a Chaybert story. So I'll just give a very brief history of the famous battle at the Alamo. During the early part of the 1800's, the US and Mexico were having an ongoing battle over the ownership of the southern part of Texas. The Alamo was being held by a group of about 150 Texans. February, 1836, the Mexican Army launched an assault on the Alamo. The battle lasted about 10 days. The Texans were completely outnumbered by the thousands of Mexican soldiers. The Texans fought them off for a while, but eventually the Mexican Army gained access inside the fort, and slaughtered every single Texan inside. And, thus, "Remember The Alamo" became the battle cry of the Texan Army from then on.

Still working on crap from San Antonio last summer. This is one of several old missions in San Antonio. The Mission Concepcion.

(I didn't know how to type an O with a little line thingy over it, so for the title, I found a website on the place, and, cut n' pasted the name)

I was never going to post this photo, because I absolutely hate the Dallas Cowboys (I'm from New Jersey. Cowboys fans are SHOT, there) But… Since the Super Bowl ended up being such a good game, I thought I'd throw it up on here. This was where it was played. Though, it looked a little colder there this week.

I shot this last summer while visiting Dallas. My boss needed some photos of the new stadium. As much as I hated the thought of having to shoot the Cowboys stadium, I must begrudgingly admit… It was the most spectacular stadium I have ever seen. It was fantastic to shoot. The lighting was great, and the lake made an awesome foreground. I have shot stadiums before. Usually the foreground is… A parking lot… Concrete barricades… Parked cars… Fencing… Dumpsters… Overhead power lines… And, usually in the distance, you can see an angry looking security guard walking towards me to tell me I can't take a photo of the stadium.

Of course you do.

I posted a bunch of photos of it a couple years ago.

Anyway... Here are a couple more.

This is the Alamo, in San Antonio from last summer.

Still working on all the crap I shot last summer…

Here's one from my visit to Louisiana. I actually really enjoyed Louisiana, in spite of being brutally hot and disgustingly humid. It was a pleasant change to get out of the desert for a little while and see some green. (this shot is technically not Louisiana. I had crossed the line back into Texas) (my motorhome was however, still in Louisiana when I shot this though) Anyway… It's Caddo Lake in Texas/Louisiana. I LOVED this place.
