Here's another from a couple nights ago, at Blue Canyon. After about four hours of dismal light, overcast skies and drizzly rain, we were rewarded with a great sunset, an amazing dusk, and to top it all off, right after sunset we got this rainbow! I can't imagine a more spectacular place to shoot a rainbow. Usually when I see a rainbow this nice, I'm in the parking lot of a shopping mall, or stuck in traffic somewhere.

Sunrise in Acadia National Park. After a three day storm with wind and constant rain, I was camping in a tent, soaking wet and miserable. The rain finally stopped shortly before sunrise. I got up, because I couldn't sleep anyway. I headed down to the ocean and got this spectacular sunrise. There is no better time for photography than right after a storm.

Here's another from Show Low Lake a couple nights ago. The weather has been so gray and gloomy up in the White Mountains this week, lightning has been about the only thing I have had to shoot.

This was the very first shot taken on my very last day in Yosemite, a couple months ago. As I was driving into the park, in the rain, I was thinking that I was completely wasting my time going into the park on such a crappy day. As I approached the valley from the north side, I saw a couple of photographers standing on the side of the road, so I pulled over to see what they were shooting. There was nothing. It was just a solid wall of white. I wondered, 'what the hell are these guys looking at?' Suddenly the white fog lifted for just a second, and this scene emerged. I started firing away madly. That's when I realized, this was going to be an amazing day!

Here's an NJPA award winner from my early days at the Coast Star. This late summer thunderstorm came out of nowhere and sent beachgoers running for their cars.
