This is from Schnebly Hill Road. Sedona is famous for it's Pink Jeep tours. You see pink Jeep's filled with tourists everywhere. Why pay for a tour, when I already own a 4x4 truck, so I spent the week following pink Jeeps to see where they are taking all these people.

Now I'm in Winslow, Arizona. Last time I came here, I just stood on a corner. Yesterday afternoon I did some exploring around the area and decided that Winslow really sucks! One of the things that I wanted to check out while I'm here was Homolovi Ruins State Park. Don't know much about the place, but it's on my map, and it's nearby, so why not? Drove there, and right in the middle of the State Park sign, is a great big orange 'CLOSED' sign. WTF? I've been hearing for months about most of Arizona's state parks closing. Seems like the date they are supposed to close keeps getting extended. So, there was a locked gate, and a 'No Trespassing' sign. I couldn't drive around the gate, because there was a fence that stretched for miles. I drove a few miles trying to find some dirt road that led into some back entrance to this park, but found nothing but locked gates. So… We can't seem to keep Mexicans from crossing the border, but they sure can effectively keep people out of this park. Yesterday, it really hit me, just what complete BULLSHIT this is. If you think about it. These state parks are natural wonders that belong to the people. Ruins that have been here for thousands of years, and scenery that has been here for millions. 50 years ago, you could come to Arizona and go and see all these amazing places. Then, they decided to make them into parks for all to enjoy. NOW, they have decided to barricade them, and lock them up so nobody can see them. If you can't afford to run them, at least leave the gates open so we can see these places. Fuck you Arizona!!!

The other night, on the news, I heard that a popular arch at Arches National Park had fallen. Immediately I knew, it HAD to be Landscape Arch. It is the longest, thinnest, most fragile arch in the park. But it wasn't. Here it is. Still standing. Over 300 feet long, and less than 10 feet thick at it's thinnest point. I can't believe this thing keeps holding on. No... It was Wall Arch, only about another quarter mile past Landscape Arch. I had to go see it.

note... On the day I posted this, I changed my flickr name to, "MikeJonesPhoto (I'm not wearing any pants)"

Why do people keep writing stuff after their names. That seems to be the latest trend on flickr. (I'm busy) (I'm sick) (Away for a while) (On vacation) (Working, working, working) (Taking a flickr break) (Off and on)... Whatever!

Anyway... After one HELL of a long roadtrip, I'm finally back in Texas. Not quite back to my motorhome, but only a couple hours away. I'm visiting my flickr friend, Michael (Mtnguyd) in Houston. I just shot this one tonight, of the Houston skyline.
