This is my favorite shot that I ever did for the Coast Star Newspaper, especially because it took me 3 years to convince the boss to let me do this. He didn't want to offend anyone. This was our end of summer, bye bye Benny cover. For those of you who don't live in New Jersey, let me explain. Every summer the Jersey shore is bombarded with visitors from north Jersey and New York. They clog up the streets with traffic and annoy the locals. They call them Benny's. I finally found out why. It stands for Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, New York. Apparently 50 or so years ago, most of them came by train. Anyone that got on at any of those stations had a tag hanging off their luggage that said BENNY. These aren't real Benny's. I got a couple of actors from the local theatre company and made them up with all the typical Benny things. Flip flops with black socks. High heel shoes on the beach. Zinc oxide on the nose. Sunburn lines on the arms. Dollar store sunglasses. I shot this around seven years ago and sometimes I still have people come up to me and say "Remember that Benny picture you did? That was great!" The boss wouldn't let us use the word Benny in the paper, so the reporter that wrote the caption identified them as "Benjamin E. and his cousin Ima Tourist, from Brooklyn" Over the top of the photo it read "See You Next Year"

Just got back from a six day whirlwind tour of western Colorado and southern Utah, showing my Mom some of the scenery of the southwest. It was COLD!
