I have a lot of photos that I have described as one of my favorites. Well here it is. MY FAVORITE SHOT EVER!!! I shot this in 2002 in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. It was just one of those lucky moments to catch on film. It was not doctored in Photoshop. Nothing major anyway. Increased contrast in the sky, and brightened the rocks in the foreground, which is stuff I could have done in the darkroom. Got rid of a few people walking aound on the rocks, otherwise, the negative looks exactly like this. The ironic thing is, I thought I was totally wasting my time waiting for the sunset. It was very overcast. The sun was behind the clouds, and it was just a gray, dreary, ugly evening. Just a minute before the sun set, the sun dropped below the clouds. With the sun exposed, the landscape transformed into this magical scene. One minute later, the sun dropped below the horizon, and everything turned gray and dreary again.

Here's one from back in June. McWay Falls in Big Sur.

You wanna hear about my day? Probably not. I don't! If you don't want to, just don't read. I wouldn't. Anyway… Oh MAN today SUCKED!!! Yeah… So… I was supposed to fly out of Phoenix at 7:40 this morning to fly to Florida and see my Dad and family. I knew it was a bad idea flying out that early because I'm not much of a morning person. SO… I set, not one but THREE alarm clocks for 4:30 AM to make sure I woke up. Somehow I slept through all three of them and woke up at 7:10 AM. The airport is a half hour away. SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I went to the airport anyway in hope of getting out of here. They were nice enough, and said that there were four other possible flights. All of them were tight, so they put me on standby for the next available flight. All four were stopping flights with shitty stops. I'm flying from Phoenix to Tampa, and they were stopping in places like Singapore, or Zimbabwe. So. Each flight came and went, and filled up, and I just kept sitting there! So, after wasting about seven hours sitting in an airport, the last possible flight filled up. So, it was either take a nonstop flight tomorrow morning. Or, fly to Las Vegas, Houston, or St Lewis and spend the night. Well DUH! If I can't get there till tomorrow, there's no sense sleeping in an airport waiting for tomorrows connecting flight. So, I'm back at my motorhome, and leaving tomorrow morning at 10:20. At least I don't have to get up at 4:30 AM Thank GOD!

This is what day two and three of my roadtrip looked like. Stormy, dreary, drizzly, foggy... Lucky for me, I LOVE crappy weather, so I was thrilled. After a year and a half in the desert, I've seen enough sunny days and solid blue skies to last a lifetime. As a photographer, I say, 'Bring on the crappy weather' I love Oregon. I don't want to leave here, but I have to. They even pump your gas for you here. I should be used to that. There are only two states in the country where it is illegal to pump your own gas. All gas stations are full service. Oregon, and the other state is New Jersey, WHERE I'M FROM! After 3 1/2 years on the road, I've grown quite used to pumping my own gas. Now, it actually feels strange when someone comes up and grabs the pump out of my hand to fill my tank for me. Here's a funny story... When I first started living in the motorhome, down in Florida I met a nice couple from Canada. We were talking, and I mentioned I was from New Jersey. He said "I was only there once. Just for a few hours. The people seemed nice though. I pulled into a gas station, and a guy even offered to pump my gas for me. That was really nice of him." I had to break it to him, "They ALWAYS pump your gas for you in New Jersey. IT'S THE LAW!"
