Sorry I have totally disappeared from flickr in recent months. I haven’t been shooting much, and I have been SO frustrated with flickr in recent years. I have been on here for over 10 years now, and have seen the rise, AND FALL of flickr. I didn’t join to meet people and make friends, but 8-9 years ago, I was BLOWN AWAY by what a great place it was to not only display my work, BUT to meet great people with a similar interest in photography! It was totally geared towards displaying nice photos. Saying something about them. Having others look at the photos and maybe say something about them. It was fun reading interesting or funny comment threads.

That all started to end, maybe about 4 or 5 years ago. They suddenly stopped promoting the site as a place to “Display your photos for the world to see”, and started to promote things, more like, “Upload THOUSANDS of photos at once!”, or, “You now have 500 million gigs of free storage!”, “Please… Dump your crap here”

I always enjoyed reading through the comment threads. Then flickr decided. “Let’s chop off the comments on the end”, no, no, “Let’s chop off the comments in the beginning”, Let’s start changing peoples names”, “Let’s make peoples icons EVEN SMALLER”, so you have no idea who anyone is.

And… Who knows what the hell ever happened to Explore? The great mystery of Explore. It used to be an interesting place to see (usually) interesting photos, by (usually) good photographers. Then one day, for some reason, suddenly flickr managed to find a way to exclude all decent photographers from Explore. I used to see great photographers work on there all the time. Now I haven’t for many years. I guess they wanted to convince people to dump even more crappy photos with no title or description on flickr? Who knows?

So, anyway. Congratulations flickr for completely fucking up what was a REALLY nice photo website!!!!!!!!

By the way… This was along the Snake River. In Idaho, a little west of the Grand Tetons. Taken last fall.

Here's one from a few months ago. This was sunset over the Madison River, in Montana, just west of Yellowstone National Park.

Sorry I haven't posted a photo in ages. I have been busy with projects, and I am very frustrated with flickr's constant screw ups. Or, as they call them... "Improvements" Flickr used to be such a great website. I'm not sure why they feel the need to destroy it. I just discovered another change last week. I posted a few photos for a freelance project I am working on. I did not intend for anyone to see these photos. So, I posted them in the middle of the night, and IMMEDIATELY changed the "uploaded" date to a date 10 years ago, to bury them. Yet, somehow they all got hundreds of views and dozens of faves, which is nice. I appreciate it. But. I just don't understand how people were all seeing these photos that I purposely buried so they would not be seen. Another flickr "improvement"?

I just took a ride up to Sedona for a couple days. This was along Schnebly Hill Rd. I've driven past this normally dry gully a hundred times before. After all the rain we have had in the past couple of weeks, this is the first time I have ever seen it with any water in it.

Heres a collection of a few more photos from this fall's visit to Yellowstone. (More photos below) Yellowstone was definitely my favorite place i visited this past year. So incredible to see the Earth's power right before your eyes. This top photo is Grand Prismatic Springs.

Also... I just created a new photo "Album" this week, if anyone wants to take a look. It seems like I get asked a LOT for photos of old Rt 66. The old Americana theme always seems to be very popular. I created a new set called, "Americana (and old Rt 66)
