It's funny that… No matter how much time and planning you put into a photo shoot. No matter how much experience and skill you have. No matter how much equipment you own. The end results still come down to about 90% luck!
This year it seemed like bad luck, bad light, bad skies and bad weather followed me around most everywhere I went. Monument valley was a nice exception to that. Ironically… I didn't really even want to go to there. I've been there several times already. But… It was the only campground within about 50 miles of this arch I wanted to find. So I stayed at Monument Valley for only three days. I put in a halfhearted effort at best. Somehow, we had fantastic skies for three mornings in a row, and I came out with about two dozen photos that I really like. I didn't even do any afternoon shooting there, because for two afternoons in a row, I was out searching for an elusive arch that was about a two hour drive away.
