A few hundred yards away from the great big new bridge to St Petersburg, is the old bridge, which serves as a fishing pier. When I found out you can also camp there overnight I couldn't resist spending a couple of nights. How cool is this? Here I was suspended over the gulf of Mexico, looking out my windows at nothing but aqua colored water 2 miles in every direction. I enjoyed watching the hundreds of pelicans all around dive-bombing the water, catching fish. That's my Toyota truck, still fastened to the back of the motorhome. It probably wouldn't be the best place to be during a hurricane though. But... I don't think they ever have hurricanes in Florida.
