Cyclone Idai's death toll is now over 700 as the cyclone hammered Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. This is what happens when you turn up the intensity of storms as the result of climate change. Over 2,000,000 people have been impacted. Mozambique alone had over 30,000 homes destroyed and 500,000 hectares of crops damaged.

In total - hundreds of thousands of people now find themselves in need of food, water and shelter. Most will be able to rebuild with aid but many will need to go somewhere else. Refugees in search of a safe place to exist. We all know how this global wave of nationalists think about refugees. This is only the start of the problem.

This young kids at the Youth Climate strike give me hope. They understand what is at stake and what needs to be done. The real battle for our survival is them against the deep hatred and ignorance that our culture is turning into. Best of luck to them.
