This was the start of the Beaver Loop Trail in the North Cascades National Park.
We parked along Highway 20 near milepost 134 to start. A short mile hike down to Ross Lake brings you to a boat dock. The Little Beaver trail starts the Beaver Loop and is a half hour up Ross Lake via a Water Taxi from Ross Lake Resort.
And we are on our way.

We left a troop of boy scouts on the dock and headed up Ross Lake via a Water Taxi from Ross Lake Resort on our next step of the Beaver Loop Trail in the North Cascades National Park.
I think we are a bit nervous as mile after mile of water and coastline recede behind us as we get further and further into the wilderness. The roar of the engine and the boat moving over the water drowns out our silence.

There is a little bit of a climb on switchback right off the boat dock when you start along the Little Beaver trail. You continue upwards for a mile or so. About two thirds of the way up, you pass a series of peeks through the woods over Ross Lake and the direction you came from.
