During our game the other night, you could see the rain in the distance approaching.

Took a few different shots, but none of them did the scene justice. Primary falls short of showing the rain as we saw it, secondary shows the darkness on the field accurately but loses the rain.

Terrific Thursday to you and yours.

Last baseball image for the season. Certainly not the best picture, but I think it is an appropriate one to end the season on. This iPhone image was taken at Silver Cross Field, home of the minor league team the Joliet Slammers. The Slammers are named for the now closed infamous local prison.

In years past, Joliet was a major iron producing city. The sculpture is based on the well known photograph Lunch atop a Skyscraper. The staged image shows construction workers on a girder high over New York City during construction of the then named RCA building. The image was taken in 1932 during the later years of the great depression.

As time goes by, things change. Baseball, however, seems to remain the same. Good luck to the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.

This happened to be the coaches son. On these younger Little League teams, paying attention and being ready is always an issue. Watching the clouds and picking daisies can sometimes be a dangerous predicament. As a coach helping out - you find yourself constantly bringing these kids back to reality. You can only cringe and hope when you are unsuccessful and the ball is launched in their direction.

On every team - there is the one or two kids that I call the coaches dream. They are down and ready on every pitch, every play. It doesn't matter if it is sweltering hot or freezing cold, sunny or raining. They could be up a run or down ten. No matter the circumstance - they are ready and they bring it. The dream.

This is my oldest Andy. His accuracy is awesome. In this league, as it is from t-ball to the majors, not walking people is key to being successful.
