Architects Brooks and Scarpa designed the Modernist style studio apartments in 2009. The 46 units are built over a retail shop; the building has two second floor courtyards for communal use. Located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, the apartments were designed as permanent affordable housing and supportive services for the homeless and mentally disabled population. Each unit is furnished with a Murphy bed, storage drawers, a table, chair small refrigerator and a microwave.
Also known as the Zev Yaroslavsky Building in honor of the long-time member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (1994-2014) and the Los Angeles City Council (1975-1994).
