Architect Walter S. White designed the Expressionistic style house for Miles C. Bates in 1955. Also known as the Wave House for its curvy roof, the house remained vacant and disrepair for years before Gil and Christian Stayner began the painstaking restoration process. Bates, an artist and playboy used the house as a salon for other artists, actors, and intellectuals. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. It is also a Palm Desert Historic Landmark.

Located at 73697 Santa Rosa Way in Palm Desert, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.

Architect Walter S. White designed the Modernist style house for Leonard and Jean Krupnick in 1946. Architectural designer Jon P. and Charlotte Austin Antelline purchased the house in the mid-60s and designed an addition in 1965. The couple divorced in 1969 with Charlotte receiving the house in the divorce settlement. Although not formerly trained as an architect Antelline relied on experience working at his father Fred's general contracting and engineering firm. A house he designed for his father in Rancho Santa Fe in 1960 was photographed by architectural photographer Julius Shulman.

The house is located at 3053 Valevista Trail in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved
