Architect Jack Olerich designed the English Tudor Revival style house for Ilya and Helen Bronson in 1925. Mr. Bronson was a cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and also performed with The Trio Intimé along with Jay Plowe, flute and Alfred Kastner, harp. Architect Jack Olerich designed the Spanish Colonial Revival style house for real estate broker Carl R. and Edna Colman Nuetzel in 1926. By the 1950s (at least) ownership of the house passed to actor Jack Haley and his wife Florence McFadden Haley. John Joseph "Jack" Haley Jr. (1897-1979) is best known for his portrayal of the Tin Man and his farmhand counterpart "Hickory" in the classic 1939 MGM film The Wizard of Oz.
