John Charles Henry Brunjes and Hilda Wilkins Brunjes were children of California pioneers who had emigrated from Hanover, Germany in the late 1800s. They settled in the San Gabriel Valley in about 1900 and became involved in the citrus farming industry. John left school at an early age and went to work in one of the packing houses as a box maker. He advanced rapidly; by 1910 he was manager of the Glendora Citrus Association packing house, one of the largest in the world. They were active in the early development of Glendora as founders of the Grace Episcopal Church as well as the Glendora Masonic Lodge. The Victorian style house which the couple acquired in about 1930 was a tangible symbol of their status in the community. Designated a Glendora Historic Landmark (No. 8) in 1993. Located at 301 East Meda Avenue in Glendora, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
