Architect Herbert G. Riesenberg designed the Colonial Revival style house for Leon & Tillie Schwab in 1950. Leon Schwab along with his five brothers founded Schwab's Pharmacy in 1932. The drugstore was a popular hangout for wannabe actors and movie dealmakers in the 1930s through the 1950s. The pharmacy closed in 1983 and demolished to make way for a shopping center and multiplex theater.

Architect Herbert Gordon Riesenberg designed the French Eclectic style house for Stanley Slotkin in 1941. Mr. Slotkin was a philanthropist, preservationist and founder of Abbey Rents. He opened his first rental store in St. Louis in the 1930s, moving the center of operations to Los Angeles in 1937. Within three decades he owned more than 90 Abbey Rents stores nationwide, offering items ranging from party tents to wheelchairs. The 5-bedroom, 6-bath house in 4384 sq. ft. was most recently (September 2015) listed for sale for $7,650.000.
