Gruen Associates Architects designed the futuristic style Vasquez Rocks Nature and Interpretative Center in 2012. The design compliments the natural and otherworldly landscape of the Vasquez Rocks, rock formations formed by rapid erosion during a dramatic uplift in the San Andreas Fault, millions of years ago.

The center is located at 10700 Escondido Canyon Road in Agua Dulce, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.

Located between the towns of Palmdale and Santa Clarita, California, the Vasquez Rocks is 932-acre park of other-worldly rock formations exposed by dramatic uplift activity along the San Andreas Fault. The area was home to the Tataviam people, a Native American group that lived here long before the Spanish arrived. The park was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a result of its importance in American prehistory.

The park is open to the public and there is not admission fee. We were able park very close to the rocks and enjoy the scenery. Entrance to the park is located at 10700 Escondido Canyon Rd, Agua Dulce, California. There is a visitors center at the entrance. One of three French Norman style cottages built by vaudeville actor Charles E. "Charley" Mack, who together with George Moran, made up the blackface comedic duo, the Two Black Crows. Mack called the little compound Crowland in honor of the duo. Considered the "main house", actor W.C. Fields lived here briefly.
