The classic Spanish Colonial Revival residence was designed by architect Harry B. Aarens in 1927. The architect was noted at the time as a "widely known Hollywood architect". The house was originally built for M.A. Sheldon, a paving contractor, who sold the house to Gore a short time later. It was an extremely expensive home for its time, costing $40,000 to build. The interior detailing reflects the owner; Abraham Louis Gore, an executive with Fox West Coast Theaters, who owned several theaters in his own right.
The house was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 2014 (No. 1061). The house was featured on the Los Feliz Improvement Association (LFIA) Historic Trees/Historic Homes Tour benefiting the restoration of the historic deodar cedar trees located on Los Feliz Boulevard.
The house is located at 2208 North Catalina Street in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles.
