The 15-home Bel Vista Tract was one of the earliest mass-produced housing projects in Palm Springs that embraced the Modernist aesthetic. Albert Frey, working alongside partner John Porter Clark, had a keen interest in designing affordable housing, a passion that began while working with architect Le Corbusier in Europe.

Architect John Porter Clark designed the contemporary style house for George F. and Marcia Barrett in 1956. Actor William Holden lived in this contemporary house from 1967 until 1977. Holden spent 18 years in this home, many of it with Stephanie Powers, Audrey Hepburn also spent time here before Tippy Hedron became its owner. The house is large by Palm Springs standards with 4409 sq. ft. and built on four lots which have been combined for a total of 42, 253 sq. ft. The house is located at 1323 South Driftwood Drive in the Deep Well neighborhood of Palm Springs, California.
