Architectural designer Rodney Walker designed the Modernist style house for Rave and Pearl A. West in 1948. The 3-bedroom, 3-bath home in 1,701 sf is currently (July 2023) listed for sale for $11.9M and described in part as "perched on a coastal bluff, and possessing a view of unimaginable beauty and splendor, the West House is a living piece of art that has to be seen and experienced to be appreciated. The largely untouched and preserved Case Study House personifies an architectural philosophy that defined an era and represents the exacting precision and intention of design with each room lovingly framing the Pacific Ocean beyond. Large walled floating windows in both the primary suite and the sitting room slide open to invite indoor/outdoor living. A double-sided fireplace clad in copper allows warmth and light throughout".

Architectural Designer Rodney Walker designed the Modernist style house for Dr. Leonard and Betty Asher in 1949. The 3-bedroom, 4-bath house in 2598 sq. ft. is currently (December 2019) listed for sale for $2,995,000 and described as "Rodney Walker was resolutely not an architect. He saw himself in a larger role as both designer, and hands on builder. Nevertheless, his innovative building concepts, and modernist vision caught the eye of John Entenza who invited him into the now famous Case Study House program where he designed and built 3 of the Case Study Houses.

This work struck a chord with the arts oriented and forward looking Ashers who hired him to build their family home. With a doctor's budget, the Asher residence was built on a grander scale, and with even more refined detailing, while still retaining the spirit of the case study work.

The residence today stands as one of the most important works of Walker's legacy and affords the nearly extinct opportunity to live horizontally on the land amid lush and fruitful gardens in complete privacy while surrounded by panoramic City and mountain vistas"

The Leonard & Betty Asher House is located at 3499 Beverly Glen Boulevard in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
