Architect Steve Johnson and Jim Favaro, Johnson Favaro Architects designed the new Manhattan Beach Library in 2015. The exterior facade features a double glass wall separated by an air space that functions as insulation. The LEED GOLD-certified building was designated the Los Angeles County Library of the Year in 2019.

Architect Raymond Kappe designed the Modernist style home for Lou and Jay Scheimer in 1985. Scheimer was an Emmy Award winning producer of television cartoons. He was one of the original founders of Filmation, once the largest animation studio in the United States. The studio’s best-known series include “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids", ”The Archie Show", "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”; and the animated version of “Star Trek.”
