Ladera Heights is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County lying between Culver City to its west, Baldwin Hills to its north and Westchester to its south and southwest. In the 1960s and 1970s prominent builders including Valentine and Gallant many designed by Robert Earl built custom homes in the neighborhood. The neighborhood became known as a popular as home for African Americans including baseball great Frank Robinson as well as other celebrities including Vanessa Williams, Chris Darden, Chris Strait, Lisa Leslie, Olympia Scott, Ken Norton, Arron Afflalo, Tyler, The Creator, and Byron Scott. Unfortunately original building permits for unincorporated Los Angeles County are not easy to come by. Perhaps one day I will be able to learn more about the original designer of these homes, but for now, we'll have to be satisfied with just the photo and year of completion.
