The Lakewood Rancho Estates was the largest tract developed by architectural designer Cliff May (1909-1989). The subdivision of 700 homes was built in 4 phases between 1953 and 1954 by developer Ross W. Cortese. Although May never obtained an architect's license, he was able to obtain the necessary permits by collaborating with architect Chris Choate as partner. The tract is bounded by the San Gabriel River on the east, Spring Street on the south, Studebaker Road on the west and Wardlow Road on the north.

Over the course of his long career, May designed over a thousand custom homes, and from model prototypes more than 18,000 tract houses. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
