Architects A. Quincy Jones Jr. and Frederick Emmons designed the Modernist style house for developer Joseph Eichler as part of the Fairhaven Tract, one of three neighborhoods developed by Eichler in the City of Orange, California. Eichler also worked with architects Anshen & Allen for homes in the Fairhaven community.

There are a total of 350 properties in the three Eichler communities in Orange, California (the others are Fairhills and Fairmeadow). They are currently in the process of seeking historic designation.
