Architects Hellmuth Obata & Kassabaum designed the Wells Fargo Center in a Postmodern style, completed in 1992. The building is the tallest in Sacramento. A distinctive curved copper roof caps the building, with a cleft in its middle. The Center won the BOMA Building of the Year Award for 1994.

Inside the building there is a five-story clear glass atrium with granite and marble walls. A Wells Fargo history museum is located in the lobby. The building occupies an entire 2.3 acre city block. Parking is in an adjoining 6-story garage.

The Tower Bridge is a vertical lift bridge linking West Sacramento with the capital of California, Sacramento, in the east. The bridge style represents a rare use of Streamline Moderne architectural style. The lift span towers were sheathed in steel to streamline its appearance.

The American Institute of Steel Construction gave the Tower Bridge an honorable mention for its Class B prize bridge award in 1935. On December 15, 1935, then-governor Frank Merriam dedicated the bridge, and led the inaugural crossing parade across it. 1000 homing pigeons were released to carry the news throughout California.

The first train had crossed the bridge on November 7, 1935. It was the first vertical lift bridge in the California Highway System after it was formally accepted by the state on January 11, 1936

In 1982, the Tower Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.

The Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building opened in 1928 as part of the Capitol Extension Group. Designed by the San Francisco architectural firm of Weeks and Day, it is considered one of the finest examples of neo-classical design in the West. Its classic granite and terra cotta façade are matched by its majestic interior containing magnificent murals by Maynard Dixon and Frank Van Sloun, a marble staircase and columns, decorative coffered ceilings and bronze chandeliers.

Stanley Mosk (1912–2001) was an Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court for 37 years (1964–2001), and holds the record for the longest-serving justice on that court. Before sitting on the Supreme Court, he served as Attorney General of California and as a trial court judge, among other governmental positions.

Over a decade in the making, the Mosk Library was designed
by famed San Francisco architects Weeks and Day. The original plan for the building allowed ample room for the
California State Library collections as well as an ostentatious courtroom and offices for the California Supreme Court justices.

Charles Peter Weeks was born in Copley, Ohio, on September 1, 1870. After studies at the University of Akron, he received
training as an architect through Victor Laloux’s atelier at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris from 1892–1895. Among Weeks’s most notable projects in San Francisco were the Don Lee Cadillac Building (1921), Shriners Hospital (1923), Huntington Hotel (1924), Mark Hopkins Hotel (1925-1926), Sir Francis Drake Hotel (1928), and the Oakland Fox Theatre (1928).
