Donald Wexler designed the Modernist style house in 1954. Actor Kirk Douglas and his family bought the house in 1966 and lived there until 1999. Donna and I had the pleasure of attending a benefit party for www.USModernist.org on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 during Palm Springs Modernism Week.

Architects Donald Wexler and Rick Harrison designed approximately 35 homes in the Green Fairway Estates subdivision of Palm Springs, California. The houses were built between 1964 and 1966 by the George Alexander Construction Company. The neighborhood has an exotic feel, with facades that recall the South Pacific (reminiscent of the Royal Hawaiian Estates, a cluster of poolside Tiki condos on South Palm Canyon Drive designed by Wexler and Harrison) as well as southwestern pueblo architecture. There is an abundance of elaborate stonework in many of the houses.
