Lloyd Wright originally designed the house for Lous Samuel, a Hollywood business manager, on a steep, hillside lot in Los Feliz in 1928. Wright's signature design element, the now-weathered hammered copper flashing--with an arrowhead motif--provides both beauty and functionality, protecting the porous concrete from air and moisture.

Due to financial difficulties, Samuel was forced to sell the house in 1931 to silent movie star Ramon Navarro. Wright remodeled the house, adding a music room, pergola and walled garden. In the early 1990's, actress Diane Keaton purchased the home, hiring interior designer Josh Schweitzer to remodel the interiors.
