Architects Landont and Wilson designed the Verdugo Towers, an eleven-story apartment building in 1966. It was the first of many high-rise residential towers built in Glendale and would remain so, at least for a time, except for the six-story Glendale Hotel as the recession of 1973-1975 minimized such efforts.

Architect Boyd Georgi designed the Modernist style house for Melvin Joseph McKently and Doris nee Bashor McKently in 1951. The 4-bedroom, 3-bath home in 2242 sq. ft. is currently (February 2020) listed for sale for $1,395,000 and described as " Georgi was attracted to this project by the owners stated goals, a modern design on the smaller of the two parcels that would allow them to preserve the larger lot as a private garden next to the historic Verdugo Adobe. Today, the preserved mid-century home and its two parcels are still under the stewardship of the McKently family.
The living room is the heart of the house with its original mahogany built-ins and trim, free standing fireplace with a chair-high hearth, and the wall of glass looking out to the lush gardens. The kitchen has been tastefully updated and opens to the original formal dining room".

The Glendale YMCA was founded in 1919 and by 1926 had raised enough funds to begin construction of an impressive Spanish Colonial Revival style building. Funding for the facilty was raised in just eoght days. Originally the building was outfitted with an open-air courtyard and an underground swimming pool. The four story faciltiy is located at 140 North Louise Street.
